Men and Addiction: Vulnerability, Connection, and Recovery with Dr. Michael McCormick

Episode Description

Dr. Michael McCormick is a trained general surgeon whose passion for helping those with substance use and mental health disorders prompted him to switch careers to addiction medicine, complete a fellowship, and where he now has over a decade of experience in Medication-Assisted Treatment, detoxification, and medication management. During his 8-year tenure at the Caron Treatment Center in Wernersville, PA, he served as Medical Director for the Healthcare Professionals Program, including the Assessment program, as well as holding the title of Medical Director of Signature Programs and serving as the physician in charge of the Opioid Treatment Program. Dr. McCormick is currently the Chief Medical Officer of Release Recovery, leading a team that cares for over 125 patients in New York and Texas. When working with patients, Dr. McCormick leads with love, tolerance, empathy, and an absence of judgment – guided by his personal experience and drive to help others through what he went through himself.
