Vitamin C Deficiency as a Reversible Cause of Pulmonary Hypertension | JACC: Case Reports | ACC.25

Flanagan, MD discussing this study from Flanagan et al presented at ACC.25 and published in JACC: Case Reports. Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) has a diverse range of etiologies and carries significant morbidity and mortality. Here, a 45-year-old female presented with shortness of breath and was found to be in acute right heart failure due to PAH. Exam demonstrated features of scurvy. She initially required vasopressors, supplemental oxygen therapy, and PAH therapies but rapidly improved with vitamin C supplementation.
