Rethinking Screen Time: Why Quality Matters More Than Quantity

Episode Description

On this week’s episode of Growing Up with Dr. Sarah, we talk about all things screen time. This year, the American Academy of Pediatrics got rid of its hours-based screen time limits for parents to use with their children. Most families just couldn't meet them, and the rules were producing guilt instead of better outcomes. In this episode, we take screen time out of the exam room and into a wider conversation on policy, expectations for parents, teachers and more, with policy expert Latifa Lyles. Latifa has an impressive career in public service and fighting for civil rights – including heading the Women’s Women's Bureau of the US Department of Labor.

Learn more about Latifa Lyles’ work on the Presidential Archive and read her work in TIME, Slate, Harper’s and more. Follow Latifa on LinkedIn to stay updated.
