Episode Description

Special education, or special needs education, is the practice of educating students with special needs in a way that addresses their individual differences and needs.

Laws have been created to support all children in their ability to learn.

These provisions in education for children with disabilities or learning differences differs from country to country, and state to state.

My guest Olga Lingo, is a teacher with 18 years of experience in special education, listen in as she navigates us through the process and expectations for these exceptional children.

Olga lives in Mooresville, NC with her husband, Marty. She has 3 children and 3 grandchildren. I have a BA in Liberal Arts in Social Work from Kent State University and an MAT in Special Education from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. I have been teaching for 18 years in Special Education in the areas of severe profound and moderate intellectual disabilities. I am currently teaching in the area of Occupational Course of Study for students with mild intellectual and specific learning disabilities.
