SPECIAL TCT RECAP focusing on four studies: PROGRESS on TAVR & AS; SIMPLAFFY on NOACS & DAPT; SPYRAL AFFIRM on RDN & BP; IRIS MAIN on PCI & CABG
Episode Description
In this special edition of the View, Dr. Eagle looks at four studies presented at the recent TCT Conference that could have immediate effects on your practice. First, he discusses PROGRESS, that investigated how TAVR may be superior to clinical surveillance in patients with moderate aortic stenosis (AS) with at-risk features. He then examined SIMPLAAFY, that explored how the use of reduced-dose non-vitamin K oral anticoagulants (NOACs) was noninferior to dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) for a composite of adverse clinical outcomes through six months following left atrial appendage closure (LAAC). He then takes a look at SPYRAL AFFIRM, on the effectiveness of radiofrequency RDN on blood pressure (BP) at six months. Finally, Dr. Eagle offers a summary of a non-randomized analysis of the IRIS-MAIN registry that indicated no statistically significant difference in long-term all-cause mortality among Asian patients with unprotected left main coronary artery disease (CAD) who underwent PCI or CABG.
