S4E01 - Impact of COVID on Hospital Operations and Arthritic Patients

Mar 26, 2020
24:44

Episode Description

This episode features a conversation with Dr. Luigi Zagra. As you will hear in his introduction, he is a very well-known orthopaedic surgeon who runs one of the largest orthopaedic hospitals in Europe. Prior to covid-19, they performed over 4,000 orthopaedic procedures a year. Today they perform only emergent surgery and their hospital is primarily used to care for sick patients. On the podcast, I asked him to focus on the impact Covid has had on operations at their hospital and their arthritic patients. Some of these solutions, only 2 weeks ago, seemed unthinkable in a region with arguably one of the most advanced healthcare systems in Europe.
