Hitting the Right Note: From the Primary Care Visit to a Therapist Who Actually Picks Up

Episode Description

Your doctor says you should talk to someone. Then what? For most people, the next step is an insurance directory full of therapists who are not taking new patients, not taking the plan, or not picking up. Sandeep Acharya has seen the problem from the recording studio, the primary care clinic, and the patient's chair. He was a signed recording artist, led strategy at One Medical, and now runs Octave, a mental health practice built to work with insurance. Megan and Sandeep talk about why the handoff from primary care to mental health breaks, what a ghost network is, whether therapy quality can be measured, and what health systems can fix on their own.
