Alex talks about the impacts of growing up with sickle cell; from missing school to not getting to participate in certain activities, and her ongoing fear of disclosing to others. Alex also touches on what it was like to transition from her pediatric hematologist to being an uninsured adult in college and her first experience visiting the ER on Medicaid. Additionally, Dr. C and Dr. Z go back in time with our Red Cell Research Review! The doctors break down the historic paper and discuss the sociology and psychology of patterns connected to sickle cell.
