Diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) topics have gained attention in dentistry and medicine in recent years. DEI does not equate to political correctness, and politics is not the focus. The foundation of DEI is to recognize differences and embrace those differences. How are racial diversity and gender equality relevant to an OMS’s success? How can efforts on individual and organizational levels be improved, and what actionable steps can be taken to enhance the OMS profession?
