Dr. John E. McDonough, Professor of Practice at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and author of America's Wrong Turn, joins hosts David E. Williams and John Driscoll to discuss how four decades of free market ideology reshaped American medicine, why corporate consolidation is the single biggest driver of healthcare inflation today, and what it would actually take to build a system where everyone is covered and nobody is left outside.

🎙️⚕️ABOUT DR. JOHN E. MCDONOUGH
John E. McDonough, DrPH, MPA is Professor of Public Health Practice in the Department of Health Policy & Management at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and Director of Executive and Continuing Professional Education. From 2008 to 2010 he served as a Senior Advisor on National Health Reform to the U.S. Senate HELP Committee, where he worked on the development and passage of the Affordable Care Act. Prior to that he served as Executive Director of Health Care for All, where he played a key role in passage of the 2006 Massachusetts health reform law, and spent 12 years as a member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives co-chairing the Joint Committee on Health Care. He is the author of three books, including Inside National Health Reform, and has published in Health Affairs and the New England Journal of Medicine. He holds a DrPH from the University of Michigan and an MPA from the Harvard Kennedy School.
