Ep. 216: The Emotional Impact of Youth Sports Injuries

Episode Description

A sports injury can affect much more than a young athlete’s body. In this episode, Stephanie Pearce, MD, explores the emotional side of being sidelined, including the grief, frustration and loss of identity that can follow an injury. Dr. Pearce is a former Director of Sports Medicine at Nemours Children’s Health and a team physician for the U.S. Olympic Ski and Snowboarding Team. She shares how families, coaches and care teams can support young athletes through recovery, build resilience and help them return to the sports they love.
